Jon Levy
Christy, Daniel, and Ellen
I tried really hard to come up with a joke that starts: "A Priest and a Rabbi are performing a wedding at the Zoo on Saint Patrick's Day…" but I struck out

Jonathan Levy and Christine Conroy were married at the Lincoln Park Zoo on March 17, 2001. I was honored and very happy to be one of Jon's ushers. For those who don't know, we've been friends for almost 18 years now.
Christy is a wonderful person and (can I say this?) very good for Jon. She's managed to give him that certain polish he's been missing lo these many years (that, or at least remove the thick coat of tarnish).
Now, if only I could get them to donate a bunch of good wedding pics to this site…

Jon and I have been close friends since high school. I remember our meeting very well (though he claims to forget). My first class ever at U-High was chemistry. The students were told to pair up. A very attractive blonde named Lisa Laumann offered to be my partner, but Jon cut in and Lisa partnered with some other girl. I could have killed him then, but for many years I've been happy that he cut in.
We haven't had too many adventures (even our Bolivian trip was tame by my standards), but we've certainly had a lot of fun, and a lifetime's share of arguments about politics, economics, society, etc. I wouldn't trade away a minute of it.
In fact, I owe Jon a tremendous debt of gratitude: his incessant debates, discussions, speeches, arguments, and harangues eventually saved my soul and rescued me from eternal damnation. Yes, I'm ashamed to admit it, but when I first met Jon I was a conservative Republican. Shocking, I know, but Jon rescued me from the Devil's clutches and set me on the straight and narrow. I am happy to say that I have been a Liberal now for over 20 years, and I owe it all to Jon. Thanks, buddy.

Jon and Christy were blessed with a little bundle of joy in August '04. I use the word "little" advisedly, since at his 6-month doctor's visit Daniel was already 30 inches long! Everybody at the hospital was oohing and awing over his size.

Ellen Levy was born in May '06. I cherry-picked a couple of pics from their photo sites, daniellevy.shutterfly.com and danielandellen.shutterfly.com.

On June 3 Jon, Ethan, and I attended our U-High reunion. Turnout was somewhat low (though not as bad as my Cochabamba reunion). See some pics below.

Here it is a year later; Jon and I (Ethan wussed out at the last minute) went back to the U-High All-Alumni Jazz Brunch and Reunion. There's a really nice pic of Daniel below. Amazingly, we ran into Brian Coe, who had been a close friend of mine at Lab in the first grade. When my best bud Gully Weiss and I had a falling out over who would win in a fight, Spiderman or the Hulk (Spidey of course), Gully and Brian became best buds.
